A Garden Party Wedding at One Seagate, Toledo

It’s hard to describe how special this one felt. It was juxtaposed. It was unusual yet classy. It was what every wedding should be: unique.
Jon and Kendra got married right in the heart of downtown Toledo, at One Seagate—a sleek riverside venue with sweeping city views and a whole lot of history. They could’ve chosen anywhere. But they chose home. Not because it was easy, but because they love this place. Toledo was their city.
And they wanted their people to see it the way they do.
Kendra dreamed of her day feeling like a garden party.
And somehow, in the middle of downtown, that’s exactly what it became.
Fresh florals everywhere. A ceremony under open sky. Dainty details at every turn. It felt effortless, like the kind of celebration that blooms from love and intention—not perfection.
The Day, The Details
The morning started slowly—our favorite kind. Kendra got ready surrounded by family and close friends, laughter spilling through the hotel suite windows. There was this sweet moment where she sat on the bed, playing with a little girl in her jammies, totally calm, totally present. She wasn’t rushed – she didn’t feel like she needed to spend every last minute getting ready.

Kendra was laughing on her wedding day. That kind of moment sticks with you.
Outside, the ceremony setup came to life—lush florals lining the aisle, sunlight pouring down over the river. Right before it started, the breeze picked up just enough to lift Kendra’s veil. Jon stood waiting, holding back the kind of smile that says everything without needing to say a word. A smile we’ve seen on a thousand different faces but that is never the same twice. And when she walked down the aisle? It was quiet in the best way. Heavy quiet. Like everyone knew this was something to feel.
The ceremony was simple, meaningful, and heartfelt. Petals flew as they walked back up the aisle—just married, just glowing. One of our favorite images from the day is them laughing mid-step, hands clasped, completely wrapped up in it. That’s what we all want to remember – a moment of full body joy.
Inside, the reception space was full of life and peace. Banquet tables dressed with gold accents and garden-style arrangements stretched across the room. Warm light poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows. And from the very beginning, it felt less like an event and more like a gathering of people who really loved being there. A family dinner.
The Party
There was a shift the moment dinner ended.

It started with the first dances—slow, quiet, held. Then the music changed, the shoes came off, and the celebration cracked wide open. Jon and Kendra didn’t just want a party. They wanted joy. Movement. Everyone together on their feet. And they got it.
The dance floor was full from the very beginning. There were grandparents dancing with grandkids. Aunts and uncles laughing until they had to sit down. That doesn’t happen by accident.

Somewhere in the mix, we snapped a pic of their custom cocktail stirrers with a photo of their cat—little details like that made the whole day feel like them. Like this wasn’t just a wedding. It was theirs.

We always try to step back during the reception, just for a moment. To watch it all unfold without a camera in front of our faces. And during Jon and Kendra’s party, what we saw was a room full of people who were exactly where they wanted to be. Laughing. Dancing. Holding hands. Living the day fully.
What We’ll Remember

They didn’t overdo a thing.
They just chose what mattered.
A city they love.
People they adore.
A day that felt like them—every second of it.
And we got to be there, quietly watching it all unfold.
That’s the kind of work we’ll never take for granted.
Planning something honest, personal, and full of meaning?
We’d love to be there for it.
